What Do I Know About My God?
When I was a teenager I attended a Christian camp and was challenged by Mrs. Mardi Collier to start reading in the Psalms and write down in a notebook all the verses I found that talked about God. This project has been a huge help to me throughout the years. In my notebook at the top of every page there is listed an attribute of God and underneath are verses that I’ve written down as I’ve come across them in my reading. My notebook filled up very quickly, and now I can use my notebook when I need encouragement or when I need to refocus or as a tool to praise God.
Could I encourage you to start your own notebook? Use a notebook that you can add pages to easily and keep the character qualities in alphabetical order for easy reference. A few years ago, Mrs. Collier compiled her instructions for her notebook into a book, What Do I Know About My God? It’s a wonderful resource to help you start your own notebook. She includes reasons why we should know about our God, detailed instructions on the best way to compile your notebook, lessons she has learned throughout the years from reviewing the verses in her notebook as well as an appendix of suggested categories and verses to get you started.

Have you ever listened to an audio version of the Bible? After reading a recommendation recently, I purchased The Listener’s Bible narrated by Max McClean and am very glad I did. You can download it onto your ipod. You’re able to navigate to any chapter. I’ve been using it in the mornings for the kids to listen to. Perhaps you might find it helpful as well.

Some friends and I are doing a study through the Psalms and we have found it really encouraging to see afresh the characteristics and attributes of God…
Thanks for that post

Mrs. Collier idea was a huge help in my life as well. WMM does carry the book if anyone is interested in that.
That’s good to know that WMM has that book. Thanks.
Thanks, you are full of great suggestions! I really appreciate it! I too have Max Mclean’s audio Bible. I use to use it extensively to point now where when I read the Bible I ‘hear’ the same intonations he used while speaking in some passages :)
