To certain poor shepherds

“The first Noel the angel did say,

Was to certain poor shepherds in fields as they lay.”

.

I’ve always taken the word “certain” to be a verb. But I’ve just realised, perhaps it’s intended to be an adjective.

What do you think?

Weird. I always thought it was a adjective. Never considered it to be a verb till just now.

I still say it’s an adjective… =)

Yes, adjective.

I think it’s a proverb.

Adjective, of course. They were chosen for the job.

Am I the only one who took it as a verb?!

Wow. Silly me.

Nah, a lot of people think it’s a verb. I looked it up. =)
