Some of us have the blessing of being a part of a loving and supportive family structure. Some of us have experienced horrible and abusive relationships. While those experiences may or may not be in the past, they still often haunt and scar us even today. Those scars can colour our view of the world and the circumstances which roll into our lives. Anxiety and depression can dwarf what should be moments of joy and celebration.
However, let me suggest that no matter what your background, hurt or situation, as long as you are alive, you are blessed. As long as you are living, you have the ability to know God, to come to Him as your creator, redeemer and sustainer. Knowing God (and living each moment knowing that we Know Him) should be the constant drum beat of our life.
You see, many people before you have passed into eternity without coming to know God. But you are still alive. You either know God, or you have the opportunity to come to know Him. You are special and blessed because of the mere fact that you are still alive.
So without minimising your background or pain, let me once again say, you are blessed with opportunity. My prayer is that you will thank God that you are alive.
