Wouldn’t Arminians have the same problem? :D
Yes Alen. It is one of the general apologetic weaknesses of an internally consistent Arminian theology. Of course few will admit to Arminian theology and of those who do, internal theological consistency doesn’t tend to be a strong point.
:)
I think people may not like the label Arminian, but they are for the most part Calvinized Arminians. At least in todays churches.. :)
I don’t mean to play the Devil’s advocate but if evolution was true couldn’t God sovereignly dictate it to achieve His goals. I mean it may appear ‘random’ to us but to God it is carefully orchestrated. In the same sense that whilst everything around us *now* doesn’t necessarily make sense it will in the future..
Though in saying that I believe that since scripture is clear in regards to our origin and such talks are probably pointless :)
Evolution is an inherently naturalist ideology. To try to merge it with Christianity ends up asking “Could God have sovereignly brought the world about by random chance?” It’s odd.
Ultimately, I agree with you that Scripture is too clear on ex nihilo creation to really seriously debate it.
