Jason,

I find when you have the comments of a post up, you can hit “subscribe” in your browser bar, and it will subscribe to the comments feed for your feed reader. (You’ll have to have added the “subscribe” button that your reader uses.) I use Google Reader and I haven’t had a problem doing that.

lol!! Exactly!! It doesn’t matter how many times you proof read it, there’s bound to be a typo you notice just after you click “submit”!

Yeah, I actually subscribe to InFocus comments and get them through the feed reader. It’s more other blogs that I have trouble with.

my concern when posting comments is more the “oh no” moment when you see the comment published and realise there’s a typo!
e.g. above: “If your the writer” should of course be “If you’re the writer”
bah!

For most blog providers these days, a feed is provided of both the posts and the comments.

If your the writer/poster and you want to know who’s dissing your post :) then there’s usually an admin feature or setting that sends you an email everytime someone enters a comments. (I’m thinking of WordPress and Blogger for each of these).

If it’s a custom blog like the Australian Sola Panel, they offer an email alert for every subsequent comment to yours.

Yeah, some have “email me with responses” options, but I find they often don’t actually email me.

Any other ideas?

Maybe if you subscribe it updates you when new comments are there?
