An Ode Against Ruckmanism

Today there is much consternation,
About God’s method of preservation,
The Originals are no longer,
So making the argument stronger,
Resulting in much disputation.

Some think that in Sixteen Eleven (1611),
The Bible came down (again) from heaven,
They shout “The KJV it is!
It’s translators were really wizz

But is this doctrinal leaven?

Before the KJV was on the scene,
The Latin Vulgate reigned supreme,
Of course, there was strident opposition,
To this new transition.

Westcott & Hort compiled a text,
That their opponents thought was basically hexed,
Some verses and words were missing,
Was this really Satan hissing?
The debate is now sore vexed.

It has often been forgot,
The KJV translators thought a lot!
Variants and differences they did consider,
Yet the Word of God did not wither,
So why is our strife so hot?

Later came the modern versions,
Often labelled as mere perversions,
The battle’s begun!
But will it be won?
Or is this another heretical excursion?

Jesus and Paul spoke so clearly,
The words of God they loved so dearly,
Wycliffe and Tyndale believed the same,
Accuracy and clarity was their aim,
Can this truth be put any more simply?

God’s Word will surely stand,
None can ever stay His hand!
Whether in the KJV,
NKJV or (even) ESV,
Bend not to unreasonable demand.

The KJV has oft been revised,
Why should this cause any surprise?
Language changes over time,
Good translations must be refined,
Inerrancy will not capsize.

haha! I like it! Can you post a video of you singing it next? =P

Yes — maybe Katie can set it to music? :)

Here’s another one!

The Creed of the Alexandrian Cult

1) There is no final authority but God.

2) Since God is a Spirit, there is no final authority that can be seen, heard, read, felt, or handled.

3) Since all books are material, there is no book on this earth that is the final and absolute authority on what is right and what is wrong: what constitutes truth and what constitutes error.

4) There WAS a series of writings one time which, IF they had all been put into a BOOK as soon as they were written the first time, WOULD HAVE constituted an infallible and final authority by which to judge truth and error.

5) However, this series of writings was lost, and the God who inspired them was unable to preserve their content through Bible-believing Christians at Antioch (Syria), where the first Bible teachers were (Acts 13:1), and where the first missionary trip originated (Acts 13:1-52), and where the word ‘Christian originated (Acts 11:26).

6) So, God chose to ALMOST preserve them through Gnostics and philosophers from Alexandria, Egypt, even though God called His Son OUT of Egypt (Matthew 2), Jacob OUT of Egypt (Genesis 49), Israel OUT of Egypt (Exodus 15), and Joseph’s bones OUT of Egypt (Exodus 13).

7) So, there are two streams of Bibles: the most accurate (though, of course, there is no final, absolute authority for determining truth and error: it is a matter of “preference”) are the Egyptian translations from Alexandria, Egypt, which are “almost the originals,” although not quite.

8) The most inaccurate translations were those that brought about the German Reformation (Luther, Zwingli, Boehier, Zinzendorf, Spener, etc.) and the worldwide missionary movement of the English-speaking people: the Bible that Sunday, Torrey, Moody, Finney, Spurgeon, Whitefleld, Wesley, and Chapman used.

9) But we can “tolerate these if those who believe in them will tolerate US. After all. Since there is NO ABSOLUTE AND FINAL AUTHORITY that anyone can read, teach, preach. or handle, the whole thing is a matter of “PREFERENCE.” You may prefer what you prefer, and we will prefer what we prefer; let us live in peace, and if we cannot agree on anything or everything, let us all agree on one thing: THERE IS NO FINAL, ABSOLUTE, WRITTEN AUTHORITY OF GOD ANYWHERE ON THIS EARTH.

You’re an interesting mob!

Robert,

The comments section is designed for discussing the post itself. I’ll let Rob decide whether to leave your comment up.

Satan is doing all he can to destroy and is using ministers to do his work and people blindly hate the AV (KJV)

Why do people hate the Word of GOD (KJV)?

It is not copyrighted.
It still has all the “Thee’s & Thou’s” in it.
It still has the “blood of Christ” in it.
It still “discerns the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
It still reads like poetry and cuts like a knife.
It is still the text of the Protestant reformation.
It does not need to be retranslated, revised, edited or renewed it needs to be believed.
That book is the King James Bible.
It is God’s word, without error, for English speaking peoples all around the WHOLE EARTH!!!!

Hate the KJV?! That’s silly. The KJV is revered the world around.

Modern translations continue the wonderful heritage of contemporary translations of which the KJV is a part.

Your points seem like they’re intended as arguments so I’ll respond to each.

-The KJV is indeed copyrighted. Check out an Oxford edition KJV and you’ll see that copyright is vested in the crown. Not that this is relevant.
-”Thee’s and Thou’s” are good? Who says?
-True. So does every single modern translation I’ve ever seen including the NIV.
-Yes. So do the more recent translations.
-Poetry is not the point. Understanding the Word of God is.
-The KJV never was the text of the Protestant Reformation. That was a German translation. And others. And the English translation at that point was not the KJV.
-No one’s “retranslating” it. They’re making new translations in contemporary English. And, yes, these new translations are needed.

My question to you is, why don’t you post using your name? Maybe you’re unaware of the protocol, but that is generally viewed as cowardly.

Dear Bible Church,

have a read of the preface to the KJV. it might answer a lot of your objections to modern versions.

regards,
Rob

For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add
unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy

I am not for arguement, was wandering if you can use your site to lead all to truth

@Bible Church,

Do you really not understand why those verses are as they are? If you do not, please email me and I’ll give you some ideas for research so you can learn about it. Until you’re willing to do your homework though, please stop anonymously seeking to shake people’s faith in the preservation and authenticity of God’s Word.

Re: Revelation 22:18-19, it cuts both ways. You suggest that the contemporary translations “take away” these verses. Have you considered that perhaps the KJV “adds” these verses?

We love truth around here. If you love truth, please:

1) Take off the mask of anonymity.
2) Do your homework on why those verses are missing.
3) Come back with your findings. Would love to discuss them.

Grace to you.
