It’s been over eleven years since InFocus was founded and this year could have easily been the last for this website. But I sat down with some key people behind this website recently and we decided that the website still has a role to play and a purpose to serve.
For instance, there are topics that the more mainstream blogs won’t feel the need to cover because their readership don’t come from a Fundamentalist background. Not only can we offer an Australian point of view, but we can offer a perspective from a Fundamentalist background as well. We can, therefore, provide a bridge between Australian Fundamentalism and more mainstream Evangelicalism.
We don’t want to be an “abuse blog.” We don’t want to be an anti-anything blog. We want to be pro-God, pro-grace, pro-gospel, pro-health, pro-growth blog. And to that end we will seek to post constructive posts. We do, however, understand that a big part of our role is to say things that desperately need to be said and to say them loudly. We’ve always sought to do this, and to do it as graciously as possible. This will not change, though I pray that the older I get, the more successful I will be at speaking the hard truths with grace. It’s never easy, especially when I feel the wrongs intensely. But I do try. And will try.
Part of the reason InFocus almost didn’t survive this year is that while the site looked alright still, it was actually falling apart in the background. So we’ve simplified some things (NewsLink is no more) and put a lot of time and money into getting things fixed up on the back end. It’s not completely sorted yet, but it’s getting there.
Thank you for continuing to read and comment. We always appreciate feedback. May God continue to draw you to himself for his glory.
Grace to you.
